Renaissance UFO

Domenico Ghirlandaio’s painting of Madonna with Saint Giovannino clearly shows a man looking up at a disc shaped object in the sky over Mary’s left shoulder. Painted in the 15th century, this is not the only renaissance painting in which this type of object is shown. In fact, numerous paintings from the 12th century through the 1700s have a similar theme.
Is it unreasonable to suggest that UFO sighting have been happening long before Rosewell made them famous?
